Bring Your “A-Game” to These 3 Fort Lauderdale Golf Courses
Lush palm trees, perfectly manicured fairways, and oceanside vistas are the pillars of unforgettable Florida golf vacations in Fort Lauderdale. Also, having some of the best courses in the state—if not the nation—doesn’t hurt either! And whether you’re here for business, pleasure, or both, you may want to see what this slice of paradise has to offer when it comes to teeing up. Read on to learn about three excellent public courses you may want to check out on this side of the Sunshine State.
Two of the following golf courses aren’t located in Fort Lauderdale proper but in the greater Fort Lauderdale area.
Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club
Boasting quite possibly the most recognizable municipal golf course in Florida and beyond, Pembroke Lakes Golf and Racquet Club is a must-visit destination for avid golf enthusiasts in the Fort Lauderdale area. The course’s parkland layout features an array of pot, waste, and conventional bunkers, providing formidable challenges along the fairways and putting greens. Made public in 1969, this John Sanford-designed course offers six sets of tees, an elaborate practice area, and an impressive driving range. Pembroke Lakes Golf is arguably the best bang for your buck regarding Fort Lauderdale golf vacations.
Plantation Preserve Golf Club
Another excellent municipal course in the Fort Lauderdale area is the Plantation Preserve Golf Club in the city of Plantation. Featuring wide fairways surrounded by several lakes and canals that meander throughout the layout, discerning golfers will appreciate this challenging yet enjoyable course. Not only is Plantation Preserve an excellent public facility, but it’s also an Audobon-certified bird habitat thanks to its many water features.
Jacaranda Golf Club
Jacaranda Golf Club in Fort Lauderdale has two distinct courses consisting of 36 total holes, only 15 minutes from the airport. The forgiving West Course has a manageable front nine with wide-open fairways and unobstructed greens. And although the West Course’s back nine is slightly more complicated, it’s still excellent for beginners and experienced golfers alike. You’ll find a more formidable design at the East Course that lends itself to a challenging game. Water will come into play on 15 holes.
